For pet parents, that take the health of there pets serious, nothing is more important than checking the ingredients on food, reading labels and feeding only the healthiest food, snacks, supplements, and treats, available.

What we do at our house is google each ingredient on a product label. Doing online research to learn more about the ingredients and the brands you love to use is a great way to find out whether or not you should support that company. Never trust the health of your pet to just any company’s. Especially in the pet food and supplements industry. Always read before you feed!

We know you’ll do whatever it takes to keep those bad ingredients away from your pet’s mouth. We love that! Because that’s exactly what we do.

You may or may not have heard lately about — Palm Fruit Oil for dogs. In all probability, you’ve stumbled upon a few website articles that describe Palm Oil is a highly toxic and dangerous ingredient for pets. We completely agree with your concern. So let’s take a look at some common misconceptions about the overall safety of Palm Fruit Oil for dogs. Let’s review these issues and find out if palm fruit oil is safe for your pet.

Contaminated Beaches

I love going to the beach with my dogs the fresh air sun and the overall great feeling you get at the beach is like no other. However, not everything on the beach is good for your furry friend.

You may have heard about the toxic palm oil that has been washing up on the beach it’s been all over the news lately, it’s enough to make you think twice about going to the beach.

What’s causing our pets to get sick? Palm kernel oil mixed with diesel fuel.

Yes, that’s right Palm kernel oil is used as a cleaning agent for diesel tanks on large ships. The companies can use 100 liters of palm oil for every fuel tank.

Palm kernel in itself is already not healthy to eat but after it’s mixed with diesel, it becomes a toxic gelatinous mixture that smells like diesel fuel. Your unsuspecting dog picks it up in their mouth and gets sick. This mixture is highly dangerous and poses a serious health risk to both people and pets.

Understandably, news such as this traveled fast. Concerned pet owners started reading labels. people noticed a similarly named ingredient in some of their pets food, treats, and supplements. This brought into question the legitimacy of one of our ingredients, palm fruit oil.

Palm kernel oil is made from the kernel, or seed, of the palm fruit. These kernels are removed from clusters of palm fruit and pressed for the oil they produce. According to Felicia Stoler, RD, palm kernel oil contains about 85 percent saturated fats and can raise your cholesterol levels, making it a poor choice for heart health. Palm kernel oil is loaded with saturated fat, which helps to absorb the diesel inside the tanks which when ejected from the tanks washes up on the beach and makes our pets sick.

However, just like in a game of gossip few people have made clear the distinction between the two kinds of palm oil. Palm fruit oil and palm kernel oil should be in two different categories, as they are distinctly two different oils.

Palm Fruit Oil, is used in cooking and supplements for pets.

Palm fruit oil, cultivated mostly in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea from the oil palm plant, is pressed from the flesh of the palm fruit. This oil contains about equal amounts of saturated and unsaturated oils and a host of micronutrients. The non-hydrated oil is free of trans fats.

Palm Fruit Oil has many Nutrients

Palm fruit oil contains a host of micronutrients that can help with better overall health, according to Stoler. Red palm fruit oil is also an excellent source of beta-carotene and vitamin E, in the form of tocotrienol and tocopherols. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, both beta-carotene and vitamin E are fat-soluble antioxidants, which are substances that destroy free radicals. Free radicals are believed to contribute to several conditions, including heart disease. Increasing intake of beta-carotene and vitamin E can help keep free radicals from destroying cells through oxidation and can assist in good heart health.

  1. I want to add, take care of your pets, love them, and treat them like family members. Be careful and read the labels before feeding your pet. Now there are many unscrupulous manufacturers of food for dogs.
