7 Tips to a Soft Glossy Coat
Say goodbye to your dog’s dull, coarse hair. With these 7 tips, you will keep your dog’s fur looking silky and luxurious year-round.
#1. Feed Your Dog Quality Food
For your dog’s coat to be glossy and healthy, you need to feed them the right food with the right nutrients. Low-quality food will cause your furry friend to lack the nutrients they need and this will show in their coat. Do some research and find the best food for your bread.
#2. load up on Omega 6
Omega-6 fatty acids are vital to keeping your pup’s coat nice and shiny. High-quality dog foods should contain this ingredient however I believe when the food is baked into a hard kibble it cooks out a lot of the benefits. also Leaving dog food open and exposed to outside air will oxidize the fatty acids and make them ineffective. That’s why we made our salmon oil supplement cold-pressed. We also sent them out in a dark amber jar to keep them fresh and protect them from the light.
#3. Bring on the Omega-3
Don’t worry Simplycb has you covered. Our Omega-3 fatty acids can aid with skin disorders your fur baby may have. These oils must be fresh to work. The effect of these fatty acids can take place almost immediately in some dogs and can take around 6 weeks on others. Nevertheless, your dog’s skin and coat should be healthier. Make sure to give your dog simply CB Omega-3 fatty acid supplements in moderation because too much could give them an upset tummy
#4. Give Them High-Grade Treats
In addition to their daily dose of salmon oils soft chews, try feeding them high-quality treats as small rewards throughout the day. Look for treats that have natural, healthy ingredients. For your dog’s health, make sure you are reading the labels on the food and treats you are giving them – you want to make sure you are feeding your best friend only the best ingredients.
#5. Brush Regularly
How often do you brush your dog’s coat? If you’re like us we brush Chloe every few weeks. If you haven’t seen her Instagram video @simplycb well it is not her favorite unless she is being bribed with healthy treats of course lol. You should brush your pups fur often to increase the production of skin oils and to remove dead hair and skin. Plus its a great bonding experience for you and your furry friend.
#6 . Give Coconut Oil a try
Coconut oil can either be used internally or externally. It will help fight infections and moisturize dry skin and will, of course, make your dog’s coat shinier, You can massage your dog’s fur with coconut oil for a few minutes TIP try it after a bath to lock in the moisture (It worked great for us) You can also give your dog a teaspoon of coconut oil a day with their food to enhance the coat’s look and feel and promote healthy digestion. Chloe and Zoey go nuts for the coconut oil Just don’t give them too much it can upset the tummy.
#7. Give an Oatmeal Bath a whirl
Is your dog constantly scratching? Giving them an oatmeal bath can help soothe the skin and fur to prevent them from scratching themselves and losing the shine in their coat. All it takes is finely ground oatmeal in a tub of warm water for 5-10 minutes and your dog will feel relaxed and won’t itch.
We really hope these tips work for you its what we have learned over the years that worked for us and our other furry friends.
