Gross, what is that smell?
Max loves giving big wet kisses, almost more then he loves a big strong hug.
Max gives the best hugs. But Wow his breath is kicking!
It’s important to brush your dog’s teeth daily for hygiene and not just because of the Awful breath.
There are many health reasons to brush your furry friend’s Pearly whites.
Just like you and I plaque build up in our dog’s mouth can reflect plaque buildup in their arteries – This can be a warning sign of a heart problem or other serious health issues later in life.
And yes dogs went tens of thousands of years without toothbrushes, and oral cleanings, but so did all humans. And our mouths were disgusting they had gum disease, tooth loss, chronic pain, and more.
Plus, in those days, people and animals did not live as long as we do today.
So just like you and me, dental health for your dog is very important.
Did you know that most dogs by the age of 3 show Symptoms of gum disease (aka periodontal disease)? Your dog could be at risk for some of the same problems that chronic infection can cause in people, including heart, liver, and kidney problems.
according to Tony M. Woodward, a veterinary dentist in Colorado. “When they’re in pain I wish dogs would paw at their faces or stop eating, but they don’t.” As a matter of fact, your dog can have a mouthful of abscessed teeth and still eat just fine, Woodward says.
“That’s the main reason why you should carefully inspect for dental problems in your dog: It can cause a lot of pain for them if left untreated and hurts them in the long run.
Having your dog’s teeth professionally cleaned is a very Invasive and expensive endeavor because they have to be put to under for your doggie dentist to work. A once per year cleaning just isn’t enough.
When I first got Max I had his teeth cleaned since he was already being put under it cost $200. This isn’t something that can be done all that time it’s not safe to keep putting your dog under.
Some dogs never recover after the Anesthesia, Chloe took over a year only to sort of get back to normal and she still has never been quite the same.
So in this post, I will show you a few homemade dog toothpaste recipes, I created myself.
I was researching homemade toothpaste for dogs to make my newest youtube video but I kept finding ingredients that I didn’t like. If you know me then you know that I am kind of a stickler about the ingredients both on my dog’s products and on my food. (I research everything)
Everyday people ingest thousands of chemicals from our diet and even more, harmful junk is found in our pet products. Our pets are far more sensitive to the toxins than we are, so if you can’t give up the junk for your self at least look out for your furry friend. Come on they need you! every little product you can make clean will count.
So after not approving the toothpaste recipes, I found online I opened my Pantry and started googling ingredients. I wanted to see what herbs were good and it turns out I had quite a lot of good ingredients for toothpaste already in my pantry. You probably will too.
